Messin' Me Up is about a song when I couldn't think straight. When somebody just messes with your head you can't help but start thinking about every little thing.
Super excited to share this real story. Wrote it to feel for both the time after a breakup and while entering a new relationship because both times are unsure, with a lot of emotions and a lot of feelings. Gotta keep the truth the truth, but was she messin me up.
June 12, 2026 →I'd been in a writer's block for a few months when I was out with the boys one night. Our guy wasn't there — they said it was because "Sweet Al" was in town. That's what he called his fiancée Alli. I'd heard the nickname before, but something about it that night stuck with me. The next day I sat down and wrote a fun, dancing love song with "my gal Sweet Al" as the hook.
This is my first release ever and it was so special because I had to learn everything about song production from scratch. Everything was new to me — learning things left and right — but it was so good to just take the risk and go for it. Especially with a song that I loved so much. I love feeling the music and being able to move my head to a song while having a super catchy phrase. And with Sweet Al, I found all of it.
Listen to Sweet Al →Goodbye Goodbye I wrote in a period of my life when there were things I needed to let go of that I just couldn't seem to get myself to. I love the way the lyrics truly come from the emotions I felt about how I just can't do a forever goodbye.
Listen on Spotify →Things I Never Said comes from the hypothetical relationship where there were things I needed to tell her, but I had those thoughts when I was doing things in my everyday life — hence the bourbon, or the Bible, or the flowers.
